RECEIVES CDBG FUNDS |
The
city of Lebanon was one of only 14 Kansas communities to
receive funds to be used specifically for public
facilities. These 14 communities will share
approximately $3,515,000 awarded by the CDBG for 2010.
In October 2009, the City of Lebanon applied for
$397,014 and will receive that amount in full. The KS
Department of Commerce is the department that
distributes these monies allotted to each state by HUD.
Because of this CDBG award, the City and the
fundraising/design committee, which is the U.S. Center
Foundation, Inc, are now able to proceed with definite
plans. There are preliminary reviews to be done by the
grant administrator’s office and after that they will
begin the bidding process, etc.
The Foundation continues to receive contributions, which
are needed for kitchen appliances and equipment, as well
as chairs, tables, sound system, etc. These
contributions can be made as a Community Center
Contribution and/or by purchasing brick(s) that will
become part of the west outside wall.
The bricks can be inscribed with the names of donors, or
previous and current Lebanon businesses and residents as
well as people associated with the current or historical
Lebanon area. Inscriptions requested are printed in the
Lebanon Times section of the Smith County Pioneer
generally on a monthly basis. Lebanon will be privileged
to have a new community facility as well as a “Community
Wall” to acknowledge donors and others.
The forms for brick inscriptions can be printed from
this website home page. These forms are also available
at the Lebanon Post Office bulletin board and the City
Office.
Contributions and completed forms and may be mailed to:
